Hi there, it’s Joanna again.
If you're reading this, you've probably already seen the wave logo floating around, or maybe you caught one of my "something's coming" posts. So let me actually tell you what that something is: Ocean Piercing, my own studio, finally coming to life.
Art has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. I grew up surrounded by tattoos in my family, always drawn in by that world, and a few years back I found piercing through a training offered at a local shop. I didn't expect to fall for it the way I did — but I did, hard. Eventually, life pulled me away for a while to focus on my growing family, but the pull back never really faded. This studio is what happens when you finally listen to that.
Here's what I'm building it around: I want getting pierced to feel like an experience, not a transaction. No rushing you through, no feeling like just another number in line. I take the time to actually talk through placement and jewelry with you, work only with implant-grade titanium and gold, and make sure you leave knowing exactly how to take care of what you just got.
Honestly, though, this isn't really about the jewelry. It's about the moment someone decides to make a change to their own body because it feels true to who they are — and getting to be part of that moment, done right, is the whole reason I do this work.
On the qualifications front: Florida doesn't actually license individual piercers, so there's no state certificate to point to, and no rules about what has to be completed to be a piercer. What I can tell you is that I went through training with the Florida Department of Health, spent time learning from an experienced piercer, and picked up Red Cross certifications in Bloodborne Pathogens and First Aid/CPR/AED along the way — because safety isn't something I treat casually.
I'll be operating out of a space inside Cavagnaro Tattoos, and details on hours and booking are coming very soon. For now, this is me finally saying it out loud: Ocean Piercing is real, and it's almost here.
